As the three day event draws to a close, people within the industry return home with their batteries recharged and ready for an exciting season ahead. Not only are the best of British bridalwear companies present but many from round the world join the party to show us their collections for the year to come.

I have never seen so much lace evident where ever you looked. If you don't like lace you may come to me to have a dress made. Lace is absolutely on-trend right now, and still a year later Kate's dress still is having it's influence.

Best Bridal designer of the Year at the Bridal Buyer Awards to Ritva Westenius. Everyone knows Ritva by reputation – she is a formidable design force. But how many know her background?

She was was born in Finland and educated there and also in Sweden, France and Britain, finally graduating from London University and studying design in Paris. Ritva taught Fine Arts and Fashion-related subjects for a number of years prior to opening her own fashion business in London in 1977 and launching her wedding gown collection soon after.

I remember when I was doing my degree we were sent on a trip to London and we came across Ritva's bridal shop. The lady in the shop wasn't too pleased when a group of Ulster students came in to browse. It wasn't long till we were sent on our way. I have never forgotten it. I hope everyone that visits my shop gets a warm and friendly welcome.

As I came away from the shows I was excited as I felt there was room for something different and original.

Loads of ideas start from the smallest idea. Dreams of lace and frills, sparkle and layers of tulle.

Everyone is getting in on the action.

 Laced with fairytale tulle, sparkling sequins, beautiful bows and rosettes they’ll have every little girl dancing with delight.
Pretty princesses can play in whimsical ruffled skirts in a rainbow of colours  topped with a tee and finished with a bow. Or walk down the aisle – a picture-perfect flower girl – in a silk rosette and satin-sashed dress in dusty pastel  hues. And for parties, she can choose creamy white or champagne hued fun frills and an accessory for her hair.
