Round up of the Year

Thanks for a fabulous year everyone. At the start of the year I was asked to do a photo shoot in Malta and it in turn meant that I met up with an ambitious set of people. They inspired me to have a go at doing our own photo shoot and just to make things exciting the horses  got in on the act.

Great day out with the horses
The Year of the Horse, horses seem to be getting in on the act all year round.

& the Year i got a new camera and learnt more about taking photos to share with you all.

Donegal tweed waistcoats and ties

With Tweed very much a fashion icon at present I bought some tweed recently and thought I would share with you the work involved to making it. Tweed is a colourful, traditional practical fabric. It can be used in clothes, furnishings and accessories such as iPad covers - hats.

I have samples with a choose of colours that you can have waistcoat &/ or a tie to be made up in.

The loom the tweed is woven on.

A book of samples of all different colours and patterns.

The latest news.

I love to keep up with all the news for my brides.
These are the latest from New York Bridal Shows

Loads of ideas for sleeves, big and small

Layers of work with hints of metallic and coloured tones.

More Lace and layers, covered shoulders and waisted dresses

I love that me and my brides can use these ideas immediately, we don't have to wait until it arrives in store months down the line. It is always good to take what we like from the catwalk and translate it for ourselves. It was interesting to see how the catwalks in London were an influence on Downton last night with the 30's style.

What's on trend for 2015

We have just had New York and London Fashion Week and I am always keen to keep up with what is on trend.
It seems to me that colour is having an influence on the Bridal world. There seems like a move towards a hint of colour under layers right through to strong colours embroidered onto fabrics.
Still lots of lace embellished with flowers

Less is More.

Tulle skirts with embroidered embellishment.

3 di flowers layering up the look.

Silk flower garlands on the head and on the dress.

Sparkly belts and coloured belts, ability to change the look from day to night.

Transparant necklines enhanced with detail.

Back detail and low "V"s

Draped beads and caplets

Damask and brocaded fabrics embellished with embroidery.

Lots of colour.

2Di & 3 Dimensional colour
Subtle skin tone & blush colour under lace.
Right through to lots of colour on top of layers

So at the moment there is lots to choose from and that will encourage more brides to be original  and pick what suits them and what they want for there Big Day.

The trend for 2014

It is the Year of the Horse in more ways than one. It seems the trendy accessory is a horse. It has been years since I was near a horse but this year I seem to keep being inspired by them. Alexander McQueen did the most brilliant shoot with a beautiful black  horse and Alice Temperley did a fabulous shoot with her friends in a field and so the idea was planted. I had meet some ambitious girls who's Mum was an "Old" bride of mine and before I knew it the girls had inspired me to have a go with the horses and the camera.

Thankfully the day we all got together was perfect. The sun was shining and everything was a joy. It was a worry working with horses and my wedding dresses but everyone that there made it possible. I think because everyone from the models to the photographer all knew how to work best with horses and the fact that the horses and the girls and our one male model all were just brilliant.
